Renaissance
(2006) has a lot of hidden agendas in the plot. The viewer isn’t entirely comfortable with the changed Paris of the future. The high contrast animation provides deep shadows and encourages a certain amount of discomfort. The characters are often hiding or sneaking around, which creates uneasiness. This is not the relatively safe Paris that we know; this is a dangerous city where we should conform in order to be safe from the highly engaged authorities.
